RTotD – 3/10/24

What is it like to honestly not be thinking about anything? Does that actually happen?

  1. I don’t know if this is what you mean but Apparently about half of the population do NOT have an internal monologue. For example when they read they don’t actually hear themselves in their head they just see the words and I guess file the words away and that’s how they comprehend what they read.

  2. That is insane. I hear my voice in my head when I read, and even have different voices and tones for characters if I am reading fiction. I imagine what they sound like based on what I know about them from the book. I can’t imagine not doing that! Where did you learn that? And what is your internal monologue like (and yes, I’m making the assumption that you are in that part of the population that has one😉)?

What I was referring to in that post though, was, are there people who can literally sit somewhere and *not* think? Total blank slate on the mind’s canvas. Because I have never been able to actually do that, and I am curious as to what that’s like.

I actually listened to a podcast recently that talked about an internal dialogue rather than a monologue, and that was super interesting, and something I’ve been wanting to explore.

  3. Ohhhh I assumed they were the same 😅 But the girl that was being interviewed was claiming to not think at all. Just act. But I’m like don’t they make mistakes and THINK like whoops that was wrong let me go correct it. I don’t know , it’s hard to imagine they don’t have to think to act.

It was something I came across in a tiktok video likely if I find it again, I’ll share with you 😂

&I definitely have all of that. I’m consistently thinking, I don’t think it ever turns off actually.

Maybe the people who don’t think are of another species disguised as humans 😦
