People are funny creatures, for a variety of reasons. But the strangest to me is their tendency to not listen in an effort to be heard. It doesn’t make sense.

For a little bit when I was a kid, maybe 11 years old, I was fascinated, and borderline obsessed with, the idea of spontaneous human combustion. I read everything I could find on the topic for a few months, and even spent an afternoon at the library trying to research it.
