I love the smell of lilacs on the breeze. Is there a breed/strain that blooms for more than a month??

(Please pardon the sudden change in format for this edition of the series. I got inspired, and this is what came out…)
Learning. Could that be the point? is it the point for me?
What if the point of human existence is to learn as much as possible for the cosmically miniscule amount of time that we do exist?
What if the universe and everything in it is simply made of consciousness, and that consciousness wanted to know what it was like to have a non-infinite existence? And complex, chaotic emotions? What if we are the result of a curiosity that can literally create anything?
What if we are simply characters in something’s imaginings?
What if the more you learn, the longer you live? probly not, but a girl can hope!
What even is consciousness? we know what a lack of it is, but what is it?
Darkness is the absence of light. cold is the absence of heat (or the lack of movement on an atomic level).
Consciousness is…. the lack of nothingness. Was consciousness created by the big bang?
Consciousness can’t simply be a lack of awareness, at least, i don’t think. If that were the case, there are plenty of people in the world who should qualify as unconscious, but are walking around, talking, and doing things.
but, i guess it would depend on what exact level of awareness we’re talking about. Consciousness could be a lack of awareness of anything. Even when you’re sleeping or knocked out, your body is aware that it has things to do, like breathing and pumping blood.
i read somewhere that when you go under general anesthesia, you actually die briefly in the process, or almost do. or something. I need to look into that…
humans use the word consciousness to mean what works for us. aware, awake, cognizant, etc. but if consciousness is the lack of nothingness, then the word doesn’t do it justice.
is it possible to imagine nothingness? do we even have a frame of reference for that? if you say “nothingness” to someone, they probably picture a black void. But, as far as we know, black can’t exist without all the other colors, and is therefore something, so our imagination of nothing would be categorically wrong. But, thinking about it, the vacuum of space does look black. but could that be because it is a photo based on visible light. What would it look like if not constrained by our human anatomy?
I used infrared film once. The pictures were amazing!
Learning. Understanding. Finding connections between things. Realizing that everything is connected on some level…..

Describe a risk you took that you do not regret.
I took a risk when I decided to stop taking any and all pharmaceutical drugs, weaning off them if necessary for safety reasons. I chose to focus on my lifestyle, and pay more attention to the fuel i was giving my body and my mind. In any case, i do not regret this at all, though there are some people in my life who still think i’m being foolish. I feel better than I have in years, have improved my general wellbeing, and have taken back control of my health and my life…
Yeah, not an ounce of regret.

By the age of 4, i had been exposed to at least 3 different languages. Four if you count math as a language.

I am beginning to understand the fact that the entire damn world is fucked in the head somehow. If we all accepted and embraced it or healed it rather than fighting for superiority of neuroses, things might work a little better. just sayin.

What would the world population be if we had had 20th century medical knowledge as of the 19th century? What would society look like?

What makes you nervous?
Nervous as in “i have butterflies in my stomach and an elevated heart rate” type of thing? Just about anything i care about the outcome of. Being on stage, giving a presentation, having an important and directed conversation with someone, taking an exam, getting pulled over for speeding. Ya know, normal stuff.
Nervous as in “i have crippling anxiety and can’t move, much less function” type of thing? Not much of anything as of late (knock on wood). this was not always the case, though.

I love words, and etymology fascinates me.
I’ve written before something to the effect that I don’t really have words that I dislike, but that’s a lie. I realized this today.
There are words i don’t like. There are words i try not to say. There are actually words that I hate, though not necessarily for the word itself but how modern society uses it. There are also words that i aggressively dislike how certain people mispronounce them, which has nothing at all to do with disliking the word, just tossing in a random fact.
Anyway, words I dislike. (I leave it to you to figure out the categories!):
sorry
should
protein
worcestershire
great
albuquerqe
administrator
dysfuncitonal
buoy
and as an added bonus, some words i love:
duodenum
permanganate
candor
fabulous
indeed
rockin
phosphatidyl choline
enigma
absolutely
and that is all for today’s episode of “Random Bullshit from Laura’s Mind”. Thanks for tuning in!

I have always had issues with the word ‘sorry’, aside from the fact that I kinda just don’t like the word. It feels empty compared to what it supposedly represents….

The human body – or any mammalian body, really- has an amazing filtration system.
