Nutritional Changes

I have been thinking again about an animal-based diet, in light of my recent relapse and such. I had wanted to change my diet, and did implement some of the changes, but not all. That is going to change, because I need to know for myself if this will work/help.

Some background. A few months ago, I heard some info on a podcast about the carnivore diet, and the purported health benefits. I was skeptical, so I did what I do. I researched. What I found, which I will put in another post when I’m not quite as exhausted, was fascinating, and logical.

What it boils down to is that because plants can’t run away or fight back with claws or teeth, they have developed some interesting defense mechanisms that actually harm humans on a mostly chemical level. And the research showing how healthy plants are is somewhat flawed as well, but more on that later.

Anyway, a pure carnivore diet would be boring, flat out. Meat and salt. Not exactly the highlight of the party, nor the pinnacle of dietary diversity. There are also some studies that show that this type of diet can be detrimental long term. But, I found an animal-based diet that eliminates the toxic plant foods but includes dairy, honey, and fruit, which is the only part of the plant that it’s actually ok with you eating because it helps them propagate. I also found studies about the harmful effects of plant foods, and these studies are different than those that say meat or dairy is bad in a very fundamental way when it comes to their execution. Again, more on that later in a different post.

Point being, I am going to transition to an animal-based diet, resume my PT activities once I get some freaking sleep, and will track results.

Now, what exactly does this mean? What will I be eliminating from my current diet? Coffee and tea. Most non-fruit plant-based foods or beverages. This includes pasta, which I do love but haven’t really been eating lately anyway, so it shouldn’t matter. Many spices, including garlic, which is one of my favorites. The hard part is gonna be coffee, or, as I affectionately refer to it, my “anti-murdery bean juice”. Everything else should be easy. Just stick to meat, fish, eggs, dairy and seedless fruit.

We shall see! For now, I’m going to get a nice cup of decaf to finish winding down and go pass out, hopefully for the whole night this time. 😊
